Items with a tight silhouette adds a sense of tension. This applies to both DIOR HOMME – when Hedi Slimane still used to be in charge – and Demma Gvasalia’s first collection from BALENCIAGA. Tight items from high fashion adds a certain sense of tension to its wearer, and consequently a stylish and refined impression that could never be accomplished with streetwear. This turtleneck from RAF SIMONS, released in 2006 A/W, is such an item. It’s matched with nylon pants from ISSEY MIYAKE, 2007 S/S, which has “athletics” as its theme. The deliberate matching of these wide-cut, sporty pants makes the tight silhouette of the upper body stand out. This coordination that walks a fine line between the upper and lower proportions may only be suited for veterans, but it’s super cool once you get into it. We recommend anyone who loves fashion to give it a try.
